The reviews for Hayao Miyazaki’s swan song The Wind Rises have been overwhelmingly positive, but at this point it’s hard to see it topping Spirited Away as his most memorable and beloved film. Spirited Away easily topped last week’s poll by taking 35% of the total votes, the only real challenge coming from Princess Mononoke with 23%. My Neighbor Totoro placed third followed by a two way tie between Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and Howl’s Moving Castle. Miyazaki’s directorial debut The Castle of Cagliostro ended up at the bottom of the list, although I suspect it is mostly because it hasn’t been as widely seen as the others. Do you agree with these results?
