Alexander Payne’s Nebraska Trailer Starring Bruce Dern and Will Forte

Up until now, Alexander Payne’s Nebraska was one of the few major awards season contenders that hadn’t started a marketing push, but this week Paramount Vantage has finally released the first trailer. The movie stars Bruce Dern as Woody Grant, an ornery old man who thinks he has won a million dollars and talks his estranged son (Will Forte) into taking a road trip from Montana to Nebraska with him in order to claim it. As they pass through the small town where he grew up, Woody’s checkered past eventually catches up with him.
Although the term “dramedy” is a dirty word for some people, Alexander Payne always seems to deftly balance pathos with genuine laughs and this looks no different. The movie is also one of a handful of recent films that offer refreshing visuals through the decision to shoot in black and white. The supporting cast also includes Stacy Keach, June Squibb and Bob Odenkirk. Nebraska hits select theatres on Nov. 15th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
