A.C.O.D. Trailer Starring Adam Scott

Although the first poster for the upcoming film A.C.O.D. seems to be trying to evoke The 40-Year-Old Virgin, the truth is that it seems to be more of an indie dramedy than a straight up comedy. As you can probably guess, the movie played Sundance earlier this year and is now heading to theatres this fall. Still, even if it’s a little more touchy feely than I expected, I like the cast, so I’m willing to overlook the fact that it’s directed by one of the guys who wrote Elektra. (Okay, I’ll admit that was a low blow.)

The title stands for Adult Children of Divorce and the movie stars Adam Scott as Carter, a grown man who is still dealing with personal issues stemming from the divorce of his parents (Catherine O’Hara and Richard Jenkins) some 15 years ago. When his younger brother (Clark Duke) gets engaged, Carter must help his parents re-unite, forcing him to seek help from his therapist (Jane Lynch). With a supporting cast that also includes Jessica Alba, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Amy Poehler, this seems like it could be worth checking out. A.C.O.D. hits select theatres on Oct. 4th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Looks like fun to me. I’ll refrain from posting any of my other thoughts about this trailer however, as whatever I’d have to say about it might have already been posted elsewhere on the internet.

Jolly acoustic guitar music is to indie movie trailers what Inception noise is to blockbuster trailers. It’s just the same thing over and over, as if it was impossible to construct something different.
