CBGB Trailer Starring Alan Rickman

cbgb

It was bound to happen eventually. The story of New York City’s legendary CBGB club is being brought to the big screen, although it’s not quite the gritty, authentic retelling you might have been hoping for. Director Randall Miller (Bottle Shock) has apparently turned it into a goofy period parody in the vein of Pirate Radio or Rock of Ages, and although it’s not really speaking to me, maybe someone out there will get a kick out of it.

The cast includes Alan Rickman, Johnny Galecki, Malin Akerman and Rupert Grint, but the movie goes for some extra street cred by casting Sting’s daughter Mickey Sumner as Patti Smith and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins as Iggy Pop. Still, if you’re a fan of Talking Heads, Blondie, The Ramones or the many other bands that came out of the ’70s New York scene, you probably can’t help being a little curious. CBGB hits theatres on Oct. 11th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

Wow, I guessed it would look terrible but I never expected it to look boring.

    I agree with comment 1

Alan Rickman looks dead right there at the role of “owner” of the CBGB´s, and when they got all the original Musc rights, this can be heck of a movie. That can be a huge hit, also i expect it to do only OK in theater, but this will be a big Blu Ray hit.
