Vincenzo Natali’s Haunter Trailer Starring Abigail Breslin

Although Vincenzo Natali’s cloning thriller Splice seemed like it might be his ticket to bigger things, it’s been a few years now and his career hasn’t really changed all that much. His upcoming adaptation of William Gibson’s cyberpunk novel Neuromancer is still slowly plodding along (last year Mark Wahlberg and Liam Neeson were reportedly offered roles in the film), but in the meantime he has put out a small horror flick called Haunter. The movie quietly premiered at SXSW earlier this year where it was acquired by IFC Midnight.
Haunter stars Abigail Breslin as a 16-year-old girl who is forced to relive the same day over and over again as she tries to unlock a dark secret in her family’s past. It has been described as a horrific version of Groundhog Day, although I don’t know that the trailer does a good job at getting that across. On the bright side, it does have Stephen McHattie in it. Haunter hits select theatres and iTunes on Oct. 18th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
