Willow Creek Trailer: Bobcat Goldthwait Goes Blair Witch

Love him or hate him, I think it’s fair to say that Bobcat Goldthwait is now equally as well known for being a director as he is an actor and stand up comedian. With such movies as Shakes the Clown, World’s Greatest Dad and God Bless America under his belt, not to mention various TV episodes, at this point his talent behind the camera is pretty well-established. But almost everything he has done up to this point has still fallen within the realm of comedy — until now.

The first trailer for his latest film Willow Creek has debuted online this week and it reveals a found footage horror movie that seems to play things fairly straight. The movie revolves around a couple in search of Bigfoot and it is definitely more than a little reminiscent of The Blair Witch Project (not to mention the recent documentary Shooting Bigfoot). The movie does not yet have distribution but it is playing a handful of festivals including Fantasia next month. Can Bobcat pull off a genuine horror flick? Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

    Fuck, I love Bigfoot movies.

Bobcat is one of the best movie maker, which makes movies which are good, with a little bit of risk which a mainstream movie will never take, make em for a buck 50cent and are sometimes ahmmmm not everyones taste. So, whatever he is doing, bring it on. Also i must admit that One Crazy Summer is his best movie, whatever he is saying.

Chasing Bobcat! Seriously, though, I really like his movies and it’s cool to see him pull off a movie career instead of fading into obscurity like most of those harder-edged 80s stand-up comedians. Not just pull off a movie career, but genuinely make enjoyable movies. I’m going to miss the fact that this isn’t supposed to be a comedy since I love his dark humor so much, but I’ll definitely check it out. I just hope it doesn’t fall into Red State territory. I thought Red State was okay, but the most interesting aspect of the film was that it was Kevin Smith trying his hand at something that isn’t a comedy.
