It feels a bit strange to see Robert DeNiro and John Travolta headlining what is essentially a direct-to-video movie, but I suppose this really is a sign of the times. Although the movie doesn’t seem out of line with most of their recent output or the current state of their careers, it is interesting that former A-list actors are now willing to stoop to this level. This is the beauty of video-on-demand market, which has apparently all but done away with the stigma of DTV.

Killing Season is an upcoming thriller from director Mark Steven Johnson (Daredevil) and writer Evan Daugherty (Snow White and the Huntsman). All you really need to know is that DeNiro and Travolta play two hunters trying to kill each other out in the wilderness. Oh, and John Travolta has a terrible Serbian accent. Killing Season hits VOD and select theatres on July 12th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
