Here’s the first trailer for an intriguing late summer release that I hadn’t even heard of up until now. Closed Circuit is a new thriller from director John Crowley (Boy A) and screenwriter Steven Knight (Eastern Promises) that revolves around a bombing in London and a possible government cover-up. The story centers on two lawyers and ex-lovers (Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall) who inadvertently find themselves tangled up in the web of lies when they are hired to defend the bombing suspect.

The trailer seems like it is trying to subtly associate itself with the Bourne series by using a similar font and also by highlighting Julia Stiles’ involvement, but I don’t think there is all that much action in the movie. Still, by the time the end of the summer rolls around, this might offer a nice breath of fresh air. Closed Circuit also stars Jim Broadbent and Ciaran Hinds and it hits theatres on Aug. 28th.
