Ever since the release date for Edgar Wright’s The World’s End was bumped up from October to August, I’ve been kind of wishing we could just fast-forward through the rest of the summer to get to it already. This is the conclusion of the so-called Cornetto Trilogy that started with Shaun of the Dead and continued with Hot Fuzz. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are back and this time around they are taking the piss out of the sci-fi genre while also paying tribute to it.

The story revolves around five friends who decide to return to their hometown for a pub crawl, but along the way they start to notice something is a little off. Are they living out Invasion of the Body Snatchers and War of the Worlds or have they just had a few too many? The World’s End co-stars Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan and Rosamund Pike, and it hits theatres on Aug. 23rd. Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

    I’m hoping that the hype of the ‘trilogy’ doesn’t harm this as the other 2 kind of snuck under the radar and grew in popularity. This, as a stand alone film looks like a rip of of the first 2 movies if that makes sense. They even had the cant jump over the fence gag in hot fuzz right? saying that, I’ve got faith in the gang and will go to see this regardless. they have a filthy habit of making brilliant movies!

    Simon Pegg is always good when he is more than just a actor in the movie, and it would be a blast to see a Bodysnatcher meets the Pup movie. Hope this is great Box Office Blockbuster, they should make more movies like Shaun and Hot Fuzz.
