Thor: The Dark World Trailer

Up until now, Thor: The Dark World was definitely the post-Avengers sequel that seemed the least interesting to me. The first Thor movie was just okay in my opinion, and while I enjoyed seeing Thor as part of a team, the idea of returning to him as a lead character was not all that appealing to me. Now that the first teaser trailer has arrived, I can’t say it has completely changed my mind, but at least it gives us an epic battle to look forward to.

The story finds Thor bringing Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) back to Asgard with him in order to help defeat an ancient race of beings (dark elves) who are trying to plunge the universe into darkness. Unlike a lot of the other Marvel sequels, they don’t seem to be introducing a ton of new characters in this one, although Christopher Eccleston plays Malekith, the main villain. Thor: The Dark World hits theatres on Nov. 8th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

    I like it. Looks cool, I’m a big fan of Thor. LOVE the cape, looks awesome and Hemsworth is pretty much perfect.

    I just rewatched the first Thor the other night and liked it less than the first time I saw it. This trailer, however, gives me some hope for improvement in the sequel (despite the fact that Kat Dennings shows up again).

  • I’m excited at least in the sense that this doesn’t have as much pressure as the last one to build up to The Avengers. Hopefully they can explore these characters in more interesting ways without that constraint.

  • Ooh, I like the tease about how Loki might be involved in the movie.

    You got to admit that there are some pretty interesting visuals and locations in the trailer though. At the same time however some stuff looked like a combination of the Lord of The Rings and Star Wars.
