This Week on DVD and Blu-ray: Gangster Squad, The Impossible, Promised Land

dvdgangstersquad

Try to contain your excitement… we’ve got some awards season stragglers and a couple of underperforming January flicks heading up this week’s slate of DVD and Blu-ray releases. Ruben Fleischer’s Gangster Squad is out this week after being delayed, re-edited and quietly released in theatres back in January alongside Marlon Wayans’ horror spoof A Haunted House (which also hits stores today). Other major releases include Gus Van Sant’s Promised Land starring Matt Damon and John Krasinski, The Impossible starring Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts, and the Ken Burns documentary The Central Park Five. On the small screen we’ve got Season 2 of AMC’s The Killing, and hitting Blu-ray for the first time we have the 3D re-release of Jurassic Park, Jack Clayton’s 1974 adaptation of The Great Gatsby, and a pair of Hal Hartley films: Flirt and Meanwhile. Will you be picking up anything this week? Check out the full list of new releases after the jump.

Pretty weak week as far as major releases. Though I do plan to pick up Hal Hartley’s Flirt on Blu-Ray, released through Olive Films.
