Alan Partridge: The Movie Teaser Trailer Starring Steve Coogan

alanpartridge

Putting aside Hamlet 2 and his supporting roles in movies like Tropic Thunder and The Other Guys, Steve Coogan still has not really broken through to a mainstream audience in North America. On the other side of the pond, however, he is a well-established comedian with a handful of popular TV shows under his belt. Perhaps the most successful of these is the BBC’s I’m Alan Partridge, starring Coogan as a self-absorbed, socially awkward TV and radio personality. Now, for the first time ever, Alan Partridge is coming to the big screen.

The movie, which is apparently titled Alan Partridge is in Alpha Papa, seems to be a continuation of the TV series which ended in 2002. Alan Partridge is still working as a radio DJ for North Norfolk Digital, but things get complicated when his employer is acquired by a large media conglomerate. Although initial rumours pegged this as a movie about Alan Partridge coming to America, they ultimately decided that wouldn’t be appropriate for the character. Alan Partridge is in Alpha Papa hits theatres in the U.K. on August 7th; check out the teaser trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Amazing! I can’t wait for this! Has Alan Partridge been on TV in Canada?

  • Not that I’m aware of. I’ve never seen an episode.

    Back of the net!

  • This looks fantastic.

Alan Partridge is massive here in Britain. Recommended.

  • Dan Morgan

Well worth checking out I’m Alan Partridge, Sean. And it’s not an epic undertaking like US sitcoms. It’s the classic British 2 series, 6 episodes each.

This just made my day Sean. Own all the Alan Partridge DVD’s and they’re always good for a rewatch but sometime the awkward situations he puts himself in will make you cringe right off the couch.

Dan. Dan. Dan. Dan! Dan! DAN! DAN!

As has already been said, Partridge is popular here in the UK…but I do wonder how well it will travel. Not that it really matters, it will probably make it’s money back in the UK alone.

    Unrelated to the topic but…
Have you ever considered doing a ‘Cartoon’s hit the Big Screen” Premium Podcast?
You could include films like Beavis and Butt-Head Do America; South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut; The Simpsons Movie or any others that you guys would prefer.

    Think about it!!

P.S. You could even include Pokémon: The First Movie for Frank since I know how much he loves animals.

  • Talkingattheback

Or you could do Sitcoms/TV shows hit the Big Screen. It could coincide with the release of Alan Partridge: The Movie.
