I disagree -- the second season is the best of the series -- the big mystery in that season gives the show even more range to explore the class theme and it has Steve Guttenberg.

The show was pretty solid, particularly the chemistry between Kristen Bell and Enrico Colantoni (the actor who played her father). I thought the father/daughter relationship in the film was the glue that held it together. The writers were clearly writing for the late twenties early thirties demo, considering what sort of pop culture and other things that Mars is interested in that distinguish her from her class mates. It was a curious show that kind of lost its way when it solved the principle murder of Amanda Seyfried's character.
