Christopher Nolan Might Oversee Justice League After All

Over the past month or so, we’ve been hearing some not-so-promising reports about the upcoming Justice League movie including the fact that the script from Will Beall (Gangster Squad) has been scrapped, sending them back to the drawing board. Last year Warner Brothers had approached some big name directors including Ben Affleck and The Wachowskis but none of them would bite… possibly because the script was atrocious. Mark Millar also recently voiced his opinion that a Justice League movie simply would not work and that it was “an excellent way of losing $200 million.” Now the WB is retracing its steps, trying to figure out how they can possibly ensure that this valuable property gets translated into a movie everyone is happy with. Their solution? Go back to the most reliable filmmaker working today, Christopher Nolan, and keep throwing money at him until he agrees to produce it.
According to Latino Review, there is indeed a big shake-up going on behind the scenes of the Justice League movie. Word on the street is that Christopher Nolan will oversee the project despite the fact that he previously stated he wanted nothing to do with it. They are also hoping that he will bring Christian Bale back as Batman and David Goyer may be involved in writing the story, while Zack Snyder could very well end up in the director’s chair.
None of this is confirmed, of course, but it really makes a lot of sense. The best way for Justice League to get an instant seal of approval from fans is to have Christopher Nolan’s name on it. The Dark Knight franchise was really the only successful DC property that Warner Brothers had going for them and they’d be foolish not to tie it in. The only question is whether or not Nolan and Bale could ever be convinced to do it. Considering that Nolan was already involved as a producer on Man of Steel, it doesn’t seem impossible, although I doubt that money would be the deciding factor for him. Do you think we’ll see Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale return for a Justice League movie? Would this be the right move for Warner Brothers or is there someone else out there who could pull it off?
