Christopher Nolan Might Oversee Justice League After All

Over the past month or so, we’ve been hearing some not-so-promising reports about the upcoming Justice League movie including the fact that the script from Will Beall (Gangster Squad) has been scrapped, sending them back to the drawing board. Last year Warner Brothers had approached some big name directors including Ben Affleck and The Wachowskis but none of them would bite… possibly because the script was atrocious. Mark Millar also recently voiced his opinion that a Justice League movie simply would not work and that it was “an excellent way of losing $200 million.” Now the WB is retracing its steps, trying to figure out how they can possibly ensure that this valuable property gets translated into a movie everyone is happy with. Their solution? Go back to the most reliable filmmaker working today, Christopher Nolan, and keep throwing money at him until he agrees to produce it.

According to Latino Review, there is indeed a big shake-up going on behind the scenes of the Justice League movie. Word on the street is that Christopher Nolan will oversee the project despite the fact that he previously stated he wanted nothing to do with it. They are also hoping that he will bring Christian Bale back as Batman and David Goyer may be involved in writing the story, while Zack Snyder could very well end up in the director’s chair.

None of this is confirmed, of course, but it really makes a lot of sense. The best way for Justice League to get an instant seal of approval from fans is to have Christopher Nolan’s name on it. The Dark Knight franchise was really the only successful DC property that Warner Brothers had going for them and they’d be foolish not to tie it in. The only question is whether or not Nolan and Bale could ever be convinced to do it. Considering that Nolan was already involved as a producer on Man of Steel, it doesn’t seem impossible, although I doubt that money would be the deciding factor for him. Do you think we’ll see Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale return for a Justice League movie? Would this be the right move for Warner Brothers or is there someone else out there who could pull it off?

I’m sure Christopher Nolan wants to sit down and watch a really amazing Justice League movie in the theatres like the rest of us. Hopefully that alone will be enough to prompt him to take one of the producer roles (I’m sure there will be many!).
Perhaps they could tempt him with a percentage share of any profits from merchandise sales…

I guess the dump trucks full of money arrived. It pays to tell everyone you don’t want to work on Justice League.

who gives a shit. TDKR sucked balls. his name means nothing when studios obviously get their way

What happened to the guy who made Memento and The Prestige?

Actually, it isn’t Nolan’s fault. Warner is probably forcing him to put his name on terrible comic book movies he has no interest in so they’ll agree to fund his more personal projects. That’s usually how it works.

Because trust me… Nolan doesn’t give a shit about fucking Justice League.

But hopefully it’s just a mere rumor.

You mean the guy who’s currently setting up am ridiculously ambitious hard science fiction film in Interstellar, is ex.producing a the big-budget hig-concept sci-fi Transcendence, and by all reports is bringing an awesome Man of Steel this summer?

After making 8/8 critically acclaimed commercial hits, I think he deserves to be trusted – no matter what.

Not that I’m excited for a JL movie, but who knows? I was more baffled when he took on Batman Begins.
