Can not wait for work tonight now to listen.

  • FoxMulder

    OH YES!

  • Kasper

I feel “We get knocked down” would have been a much more appropriate intro for this long awaited return of GameJunk!

  • Kasper

By the way guys, I would much rather have you play a lot of games a little bit and just talk about that than try to review games and then never get any episodes done.

This is how the only other videogame podcast I listen to does it, Idle Thumbs, and that’s an awesome show. They just talk about stuff they play, no matter if they beat the games or not, and like you guys they have a lot of random off-topic banter, and that’s just perfect. You don’t need to reach 100% completion to talk about the games – we still love you at 50% completion! <3

  • I totally agree with Kasper, tho I can understand why you guys would prefer to review the games and give a star rating and such since that’s the format you go with for FJ.

I can only speak for myself, but I come to this podcast hoping to hear a little bit of an insight into game stuff from the development side. What turns you guys (developers in general, not specifically you guys) on goes into the games we all play after all.

That and it goes w/o sayin that you guys have a really good rapport going on overall, which comes across. I could probably listen to you guys talk about gardening or some shit and be into it just to hear the convo. heheh

Anyhow it’s all good. Wherever, whenever, whatever I’ll always be up for some Game Junk!

  • P.S. @Andrew – Citizens of Earth looks pretty interesting judging from the Destructoid preview! Definitely will be keeping my eye out for that.

  • Jonny Ashley

    lovin this

  • kyri

kinect and pseye are great for art installations..

  • rjdelight

You guys shouldn’t feel obligated to have a group review for each show. Running down the headlines and what you’ve been playing is great.

  • mattTO

    Great show guys!

Anyone interested in what the guys were talking about with Zelda Ocarina of Time – check this out: finished the game in less than 25 mins with a full (and great) commentary about it.

  • HuckCity

@milath – Thanks for checking out Citizens of Earth! We’re really excited to show it off in more detail in March.

Glad everyone is liking the show!

Guys Game Junk is always awesome, just do it more! March is a big month with Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider and the new God of War. Odds on us getting Episode 15 in April/May?

I’m glad those sites shut down. Game journalism is a joke. I remember when kiss-ass game journalists were telling us to chill out on Nintendo for turning their backs on the core to court the casuals/non-gamers. They said it will grow the market, that these casuals would eventually migrate to pure games. 6 years later, guess who was wrong.

The Wii U tanking is sweet revenge for us core. Nintendo is trying to employ their gimmicky trick again but are getting fucked up. The Wii’s success is cheap like Bret Hart beating Diesel with a small package at Survivor Series 1995. When Bret Hart tried to small package Diesel again in a subsequent match, he got a jack-knife power bomb. Nintendo is currently getting jack-knifed.

    Wii U = Dreamcast 2 | Shhhh, it’s sinking

Sony’s only chance to compete with Microsoft is to release the PS4 at least 6 months before the Next Box(even then it’ll be an uphill battle). 360 won last gen, it was the cool system to have. Microsoft has the mainstream’s mindshare and going into this gen they are the company to beat. Last gen, Sony was coming off the momentum and success of the PS2. This gen, they’re coming off the failure(or perceived failure) of the PS3. Sony has to bring it even harder than ever before(Spoiler: They won’t. They will fail again.) It’s sad, I’d prefer to have a Japanese company be the console leader as it would guarantee more niche, Japanese games in NA like in the PS1/PS2 days. :(

Regarding the internet hate for RE6. Geeks always flip flop. It’s weird, it’s illogical. The geek hivemind liked Fast 5, so they’ll probably dislike Fast 6. They were disappointed by Twilight Princess(GCN) but they thought Skyward Sword was a return to form for the series. [Fact: Twilight Princess(GCN) is objectively, on a technical level(dungeon design, boss encounters, etc.) better than Skyward Sword. Beat both games and tell me otherwise.] They slammed Super Mario Sunshine and claimed Ratchet & Clank was the future of platformers. They think Community sucks now. But that’s just how geeks are. And by the way, when I’m talking about the geek hivemind, that obviously doesn’t include Sean, Andrew, or Frank. They can think for themselves which is evident during their discussion about the Sony conference. Listen to other podcasts and hear them slobbering & gushing over the presentation(again, game journalsim is a joke).

The next generation of consoles is really leaving me cold.

I couldn’t care less about the Wii U’s portable screen controller. Wii U seems to be a Wii that’s nearly caught up with the current gen’s level of graphics but with another gimmick that, based on the Wii, won’t be utilised in many or any games.

Being able to use DS’s or 3DS’s as you can the controller screen would’ve kept costs down and made way more sense.

The only thing to get me excited in the PS4 release was the miniscule revelation that there will be a headphone socket on the controller.

Fingers crossed for the Xbox 720.

@Chris Morgan – Hopefully a show in April/May will be possible. I’m hoping to give a GDC “report”. I think we were talking about trying to get one show in for April and then another for June (but scheduling has always been the problem with us).

@Tum Tum – I’m not too sure the Xbox is ahead of PS. Last I heard, sales numbers were pretty close and, other than shooters, MS isn’t looking like they will have much to offer in terms of exclusive games….my vote is for PS4 (but I’m arguably a PS fanboy, so take that with a grain of salt)

  • On the topic of who won this generation, Wikipedia still lists Xbox 360 ahead of PS3, but they have a little note where it says that Sony reported passing Microsoft in January. However, it seems like they’re not accepting it as fully legit. I think Sony was reporting units shipped, not units sold, so it’s a grey area.

    360: NA = 42m | Eu = 23m | Jap = 1.5m
    PS3: NA = 26m | Eu = 28.5m | Jap = 9m

NA is key. I think the only reason PS3 outperformed 360 in Europe is because Sony was coming in as console leader. This coming gen, Microsoft’s victory in NA will play a huge part in Sony’s public perception and will influence heavily on Eu gamers. Japan, however, will remain anti-Microsoft and that will leave Sony and Nintendo fighting it out for that territory.

“and, other than shooters, MS isn’t looking like they will have much to offer in terms of exclusive games…”

PS3 had way better exclusives than 360 and yet they still loss. I think it’s not a matter of if MS will have exclusives, it’s whether Sony will have enough enticing exclusives to bring the mainstream back to their side. If the public, like last time, are more interested in 3rd party titles then they will once again side with MS.

I love when “core” gamers argue over which fucking console is “winning”.
This is why the terrorists are winning.
