The Numbers Station Trailer Starring John Cusack and Malin Akerman

The Bourne influence is still being felt in Hollywood as there is no shortage of modern spy movies being produced as of late. Here’s another one that stars John Cusack as a CIA black ops agent who is assigned to protect a “Numbers Station” where top secret messages are encrypted and transmitted. Malin Akerman plays a cryptographer who comes under fire when the station is targeted by an unknown enemy.

The Numbers Station is directed by Danish director Kasper Barfoed and written by first-time screenwriter F. Scott Frazier (who apparently used to be a video game QA guy for THQ). The movie looks like it is bordering on direct-to-video territory (and based on Cusack’s recent output, it could go either way), but the idea of these stations being used to pass messages is at least somewhat interesting. The Numbers Station hits select theatres on April 26th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

    Terrible title.

After reading a little bit about these “number stations”, it seems like there’s probably a cool movie in that concept somewhere. They seem to not have found it. The last name of the director, Barfoed, has piqued my interest a little though.
