The East Trailer Starring Ellen Page and Alexander Skarsgard

The Sundance Film Festival is in full swing in Park City, Utah this week and although I’ve been hearing good things about some of the high-profile premieres like S-VHS and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Don Jon’s Addiction, one of the lesser known movies that has been getting great buzz is a thriller called The East. The movie stars Ellen Page and Alexander Skarsgard as members of an anarchist group bent on taking down major corporations. A contract worker for a private intelligence firm goes undercover to infiltrate the group, but soon finds herself being swayed by their cause.
The movie is the follow-up from Zal Batmanglij, the same guy who directed the 2011 Sundance hit Sound of My Voice, and Brit Marling (Another Earth), co-writer and star of the film. I wasn’t the biggest fan of their last collaboration, but I’m hoping that having a few more established actors this time around will pay off. The East already has distribution since it was backed by Fox Searchlight and is expected to hit theatres later this year. Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
