2012 Film Junk Reader’s Choice Awards: Voting is Now Open!

After 11 months of watching movies, it’s finally time to put all of those wasted hours to good use! That’s right, it’s time to cast your votes for the 7th Annual Film Junk Reader’s Choice Awards. For those who have not participated in previous years, the basic idea is that we nominate a number of movies in various categories and then we ask you to vote for your favourites. The winners will be revealed as part of our year end podcast on the last episode of December.

The method for deciding on nominees is not particularly scientific. Although some movies can fit in multiple categories, we sometimes move things around in order to keep the categories somewhat balanced. We also restrict the options to movies that received a U.S. theatrical release in 2012. Either way, feel free to pick apart our choices and call out anything important that we might have missed. Now get moving… click through to cast your votes for the 2012 Film Junk Reader’s Choice Awards!

  • Looper is the best movie of the year but of the options available I went with The Master. Still have a lot of movies to see though.

  • Nino

    Nice!
I still need to watch some of this years “bigger” movies, so when is the closing date for the voting?

  • Adam D.

Thank you Sean, Jay, Frank and Greg for a great 2012 of podcasts, reviews, premium podcasts and laughs. Film Junk rules!

  • Closing date will be roughly around Christmas Day.

  • mrhorse

yes thank you very much for your excellent podcasts, getlemen

t’was a pretty good yer for movies as well, much better than 2011. pity you didn’t include god bless america though. as for the foreign section (i’m european so that’s myne) there’s.. Rust and Bone, Polisse, Elena, Wild Bill and The Intouchables.

i don’t see anyone voting for prometheus. however, just by saying that, i’ve generated a vote or two for it, amirite? :P

  • Steve

I was tempted to vote Prometheus for best of the year, and while it is my favorite this year, I think The Master is better. I did vote for it for best sci-fi though.

  • Indianamcclain

So many ties. It’s so hard to choose between The Dark Knight Rises and Dredd, The Raid and Skyfall, The Master and Life of Pi, etc. This has been an excellent year.

  • Essie

    No Amour :(

  • Jack

I actually ended up finding Pitch Perfect to be the best comedy I saw this year, but I’ll go for 21 Jump Street.

  • Kind of impossible for me to participate in this since I haven’t seen about 80 percent of the films on that list and there’s no way I’ll be able to catch up… oh well.

  • kyri

In some categories I wish I had NONE as an option..

  • ProfessionalCynic

Bernie (Totally under-rated and not a fuckady fuck anywhere). Polisse (One film that will never get a US remake THANK Fuckady!) The Intocuchables (France 2011) Searching for Sugar Man. Moonrise Kingdom. Head Hunters (Original Title Hodejegerne in Norway) The Turin Horse (A torinói ló Original title in Hungary) A Royal Affair (En kongelig affære Original Danish title) Amazing list this year, there is shed loads more bit I’m just being greedy. To Sean, Jay, Greg and Frank Huge Huge thanks for a great show, please Sean don’t get jaded and give up, WE ALL LOVE THE SHOW!!!

  • Bob

    Kyri (#11) – Ditto.

  • Antonio

I just realised that I still have lots of movies to watch this year…

Tears in my eyes that Searching for Sugarman didn’t make the cut…

  • Headhunters!

People should check it out – it’s on Netflix Instant. I just rewatched the other night and IT. IS. AWESOME.

  • Steve Kasan

    Prometheus all the way!!!

  • devolutionary

Wow, for as many movies as I’ve seen this year, I’m lucky to have seen half these nominees.

  • Andrew

So I clicked the link and just says “thanks for completing the survey”…. Sean what did I do wrong?

  • Are you at work or school or somewhere that you might be sharing an IP address with other people? Sounds like it has already marked your IP as having completed the survey.

  • Napalm

How come Django is not even nominated for the Best film list? :S
