Paul Feig’s The Heat Trailer Starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy

Last summer when Bridesmaids became a huge hit, everyone was quick to celebrate the fact that an R-rated ensemble female comedy had found critical and commercial success. However, if you ask me, it was also worth celebrating the fact that director Paul Feig finally caught a break after struggling for years to make the jump to the big screen like his buddy Judd Apatow. Now Feig is reteaming with Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy for another relative first: a female buddy cop movie.
The Heat stars Sandra Bullock as a straight-laced FBI agent who is forced to team up with a foul-mouthed Boston cop (McCarthy) with a rather unpredictable and unorthodox style. Written by Katie Dippold (Parks and Recreation), the first trailer left me unimpressed, mainly because the humour seems a little too lightweight. Based on the Bridesmaids connection, you would think this was going to be rated R, but the trailer is very clearly PG-13. It also seems to be somewhat lacking in the supporting cast department. The Heat hits theatres on April 5th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
