Steven Soderbergh’s Side Effects Trailer Starring Channing Tatum and Rooney Mara

Last year while everyone was busy talking about Steven Soderbergh potentially retiring from directing, he went ahead and set up a new film with Contagion writer Scott Z. Burns tentatively titled The Bitter Pill. Set in the world of psychopharmacology, the movie was supposedly going to explore the treatment of emotional disorders and the shady side of the pharmaceutical business. It has since been renamed Side Effects, and now it is scheduled to hit theatres early next year.

Rooney Mara stars as a woman who takes prescription medication for anxiety when her husband (Channing Tatum) is released from prison. Her husband ends up dying, but it’s unclear what caused it or why. This leads to some sort of investigation that apparently also involves Jude Law and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Although the trailer feels a bit vague and unfocused, I’m on board simply based on the premise and the people involved. Side Effects hits theatres on Feb. 8th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

Looks great! No Cliff Martinez score on this one though. That’s a bit of a letdown.
