Movie Poster Round-Up: Iron Man 3, The Lone Ranger, Carrie

With the first trailer for Iron Man 3 due to hit the web early tomorrow, we’re starting to see the rest of the marketing materials pop up online including the very first teaser poster for the film. There’s not really much to say about it, but well… I’m sure you wanted to see it anyway! Other noteworthy poster reveals from the past couple of weeks include The Lone Ranger, Jack Reacher, Carrie and Jonathan Levine’s teen zombie comedy Warm Bodies.

We’ve also got the first real teaser poster for Edgar Wright’s The World’s End and a couple of New York Comic-Con posters for Kim Ji-woon’s The Last Stand and Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. Some of the recent Mondo releases include Halloween, Kill Bill and Beyond the Black Rainbow, but overall, nothing can top the first poster for The Smurfs 2! Which ones are your favourites? Check out the full gallery after the jump.

That Parker poster would be the epitome of badass if Jennifer Lopez’s gigantic ghost face wasn’t chestbursting out of Jason Statham.

  • Jack Burton

Can someone please tell me why these mondo posters are impossible to purchase and never restocked? I have money!

    STAND UP GUYS LOOKS AWESOME

And this halloween poster, is this another do-over or is this a third one?

  • Beerdude

Another Dune?! This is the first I hear of this!

Some interesting stuff here but that Hobbit poster is the worst of the bunch. I don’t understand why dwarves would look so completely different in this film than they did in LOTR. Heck, out of the dozen dwarves featured in that poster, there are a few that don’t look like they’re even part of the same species. There hasn’t been anything outside of the casting and look of Martin Freeman that has me looking forward to The Hobbit. I’m afraid it will be an uphill battle for poor Mr. Freeman to save what seems like a disastrous trilogy in the making. :(

snow white and the huntsman did a really good job of doing dwarves. the best ive seen.

@Beerdude: I’m not sure if it’s another Dune of if its Mondo doing a fan-poster, but they seem to do those a lot. So don’t get your hopes up.
I’m starting to get sick of mondo. I really liked the first couple things I saw from them, but more and more it seems like they just have a filter they throw onto everything. It seems less and less original.
Beyond the Black Rainbow poster looks pretty cool.

The Hobbit poster looks a lot like the ones for Toy Story 3 and The Muppets, aimed at kids. The trailer, on the other hand, sells it as LotR 2.0: Ring Harder.

The last stand poster is “Cooal”. This movie should be a real fine meal for eater of Commando Popcorn.

  • La Menthe

@dba No it didn’t. The only reason you are saying it is because they casted star actors for each and every one of the seven dwarves. That’s not enough to make the characters themselves interesting.

@Steve: I found a Dune(2014) entry on imdb after seeing the poster here, and there does seems to be some buzz about a new Dune movie “in development”

  • There has been talk about a Dune remake for a while now, but that’s not what this poster is for. Jodorowsky’s Dune is a documentary about a version of Dune that Alejandro Jodorowsky was supposed to direct back in the ’70s before the project fell apart.

The Hobbit poster looks like a poster for an CGI animated film. Those designs look way too cartoony.
