This Week on DVD and Blu-ray: Moonrise Kingdom, That’s My Boy, Chernobyl Diaries

It may not be the strongest line-up of new releases on DVD and Blu-ray this week, but with Wes Anderson’s latest film Moonrise Kingdom leading the way, there’s certainly nothing to complain about. Other major releases include the Adam Sandler / Andy Samberg comedy That’s My Boy, the CG-animated blockbuster Madagascar 3, and the largely ignored summer horror flick Chernobyl Diaries. TV on DVD titles include Mad Men: Season 5, the first and only season of J.J. Abrams’ Alcatraz and the long-awaited first two seasons of the Tim and Eric spin-off Check It Out! with Dr. Steve Brule. Finally, hitting store shelves for the very first time believe it or not, James Cameron’s Avatar is now available on 3D Blu-ray. Will you be buying or renting anything this week?     Kind of disappointed with the artwork for Moonrise Kingdom. I’ll just wait until Criterion inevitably releases it.

    So should I wait for the Criterion rerelease? How long will that take I wonder?

    Well, unless I’m misremembering, they’ve released literally every one of Wes Anderson’s films, so it can’t be more than a few years.
