@BAS. If he would be able to get it off the ground without crowd funding he would have done so in 2009.
The problem is that this concept isn’t exactly commercial and CGI movies cost a ton of money to make. But I’m not really sure how a story-reel is going to change the minds of studio heads.
He should probably look over seas for partners, Europe and Asia are more willing to spend money on a property like this.

So there asking for donations in the hopes that a studio will look at this reel and give them more money? If nobody wanted it before, how is making this going to change anything? You’d think Fincher could pony up 400K.

I really have no problem with famous people using Kickstarter. In fact I encourage it, anything that pulls power away from idiot executives at most major studios (Film/Music/TV) is a good thing in my book. Also it gives the creators the opportunity to retain the rights of the product and reap the potential rewards themselves instead of the studios.

That’s using kickstarter as a marketing tool. Don’t tell me that Fincher can’t get this made without crowdfunding. It certainly looks good enough to stand on its own feet.
