Broken City Trailer Starring Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe

Although they’ve worked together for years as a single unit, The Hughes Brothers (Menace II Society, The Book of Eli) recently decided to split off and take on two separate projects. Both contain the word “City” in the title, although they don’t appear to be connected in any way. First up will be Allen Hughes’ Broken City, which is coming to theatres this January, followed by Albert’s Motor City later in 2013.

Broken City stars Russell Crowe as a corrupt mayor who finds himself butting heads with ex-cop Billy Taggart (Mark Wahlberg). Catherine Zeta-Jones, Barry Pepper, Jeffrey Wright and Kyle Chandler also appear in the film. Aside from the cast there isn’t much here that really stands out to me, but you could probably do a lot worse in the middle of January. Broken City hits theatres on Jan. 18th; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

    Looks like the kind of film that’ll come and go without anyone taking any sort of notice and its existence will be forgotten in a years time.

  • Seems like the kind of movie you’d come across on TNT or TBS and end up watching the whole thing. That’s not a sign of quality, will probably be watchable though. Like an episode of “Law and Order.”
