The Lone Ranger Trailer Starring Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp

It’s been a long road getting The Lone Ranger back on the horse again. Jerry Bruckheimer and Gore Verbinski had a hell of a time getting Disney to greenlight the project due to budgetary concerns, and then they supposedly ended up going overbudget anyway. But regardless of the difficulties they experienced behind the scenes, the first trailer for the movie has finally arrived, confirming that this is indeed on track to hit theatres next summer.

The movie stars Armie Hammer (The Social Network) in the lead role with Johnny Depp playing Tonto. William Fichtner plays the villain, while Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson, Barry Pepper and James Badge Dale all take on supporting roles. The first trailer is definitely more of a teaser and showcases quick glimpses of some action scenes (most involving a train), but there’s no mistaking this as a Jerry Bruckheimer film with all the slow-mo and explosions. I can’t wait for the marketing slogans to start claiming, “This isn’t your father’s Lone Ranger!”. The Lone Ranger hits theatres on July 13th, 2013; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

  • Now that I’ve heard Tonto speaking in the teaser, I feel like Depp was the best casting choice since Bill Fagerbakke for the improved D-list Avengers.

    M-O-O-N….that spells Th…awww forgET IT!!

with music by jack white. excited, yup!

  • Im really pumped for this one. After all this same team did give us one of the better westerns in the last few years with Rango. I was expecting some kind of steampunk shit but this looks like a straight up western.

Of the Gore Verbinski films I have seen so far…

I love Mousehunt, Curse of the Black Pearl, and Rango quite a lot.

The other two Pirates films don’t hold much interest for me at all.

It’s a pretty iffy thing, but I think I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. Can’t be worse than Cowboys and Aliens.

trailer looks crap, but the team behind it is promising.

Not sure what I’d think about this very early glimpse on its own merits but William Fichtner is in it and that guarantees a certain amount of awesomeness so I’ll be there.

I have heaps of interest in Gore Verbinskis films, does anyone else like the Weatherman? Classic Nic Cage. His films always have awesome cinematography, you can see from this trailer that this will continue.
