Weekly Poll Results: Best New Horror Director

Last week we asked Film Junk readers to pick the most talented horror director to arrive on the scene within the past decade. In the end, it was Eli Roth who came out on top with nearly 25% of the votes. While he may not be so “new” at this point, in terms of becoming the new face of horror, I think that is a fair assessment. Up and comer Ti West wasn’t far off, however, taking 21% of the votes, followed by U.K. gore hound Neil Marshall. Alexandre Aja and Rob Zombie rounded out the top 5. I was a little surprised that Lucky McKee didn’t rank higher since he has a lot of supporters within the horror community, but I suppose he is still largely unknown to more casual genre fans. Darren Lynn Bousman finished way down at the bottom of the list, despite having directed perhaps the most movies out of anyone here. Do you agree with these results?
1. Eli Roth — 24%
2. Ti West — 21.5%
3. Neil Marshall — 17.4%
4. Alexandre Aja — 13.6%
5. Rob Zombie — 11.2%
6. James Wan — 6.6%
7. Lucky McKee — 2.1%
8. Oren Peli — 1.7%
9. Adam Green — 1.2%
10. Darren Lynn Bousman — 0.8%
