I have to admit, I’m not usually a big fan of period dramas and historical biopics, but when you’ve got Steven Spielberg directing and Daniel Day-Lewis starring, it’s hard not to be excited. The first trailer for Lincoln has arrived online this week, and it looks pretty much like you’d expect it to. Impressive costumes and make-up, the backdrop of the civil war and great actors doing their thing. What’s not to like?

While I’m sure this is a story that most Americans are very familiar with, living outside the U.S. I’m actually interested to learn more about this crucial time in American history. And while there’s definitely a chance that it will turn overly sentimental in the vein of War Horse, we always have Janusz Kaminski’s cinematography to look forward to. Lincoln hits select theatres on Nov. 9th and rolls out nationwide the week after; check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
