Brian De Palma’s Passion Trailer Starring Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace

Now that we’ve had a chance to discuss the first photos from the remake of Brian De Palma’s Carrie, let’s turn our attention to the latest film from De Palma himself — which, coincidentally, also happens to be a remake. It’s been a few years since he’s been behind the camera (the poorly-received Redacted hit theatres back in 2007), and although he was rumoured to be on the short list for Paranormal Activity 2, it never actually panned out. Next month he is heading to the Toronto International Film Festival with Passion, a new erotic thriller that seems like a potential return to form.

Based on the French film Crime d’amour, directed by Alain Corneau, the movie stars Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace as Christine and Isabel, two ambitious women who work at an advertising agency. Although Christine initially takes Isabel under her wing, when she steals an idea for a marketing campaign and claims it as her own, Isabel becomes fixated on getting revenge. The movie is still looking for distribution but the first trailer has arrived online this week and it looks both sexy and suspenseful. Is this De Palma back at the top of his game? Check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

A film about stealing an idea by a director who steals at will from Hitchcock.
