Silent Hill: Revelation 3D Trailer

Before the first Silent Hill movie was released back in 2006, I had really hoped that it might finally deliver a worthwhile adaptation of a video game on the big screen. It had a decent director in Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf) and even a credible screenwriter in Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction), but unfortunately, they still could not put together a particularly coherent flick. The best thing you can probably say about their film is that it had some interesting visuals. Now, after hearing rumours about it for years, we are actually getting a sequel to Silent Hill… a non-DTV sequel, if you can believe it.

Silent Hill: Revelation 3D continues the story of the first film with Christopher Da Silva (Sean Bean) assuming a new identity and now living with his adopted daughter Heather (Adelaide Clemens). When her father disappears, however, Heather is drawn to Silent Hill, where she comes across a startling “revelation”. The movie is based on the game Silent Hill 3, which takes place partially at an amusement park, and you can see some of that imagery in this trailer. The movie is written and directed by Michael J. Bassett, and although I heard some good things about his last film, Solomon Kane, I don’t have a lot of confidence that this will improve on its predecessor. Silent Hill: Revelation hits theatres on October 26th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

I personally loved the first Silent Hill, being a fan of the games, what Ganz & Avary did was stay very truthful to it. I was hoping that they would follow Sean Bean’s character back to Silent Hill and the story from part 2, but, this looks to be pretty good!
I know the first one was shot in Brantford, do you know where this was shot? The amusement park I know was shot in Toronto at centre island.

I can’t believe this is actually getting a theatrical release. Thought for sure it was DTV.

I was a pretty big fan of the first film and also the games, so I am super pumped for this. Here is hoping for a theatrical release in Australia.
