New to Theatres This Weekend: The Dark Knight Rises, The Queen of Versailles, Shut Up and Play the Hits

Hey guys, I’m going to be on vacation starting today so there won’t be many updates on the site over the next week. I guess you’ll just have to find something to talk about in the meantime… hey, it’s not like the biggest movie of the summer comes out this weekend! With The Dark Knight Rises about to get the second largest theatrical release ever, it’s probably safe to assume most of you will be checking it out. There really is very little in the way of alternatives, but if you happen to live in New York or L.A. you could potentially catch a pair of solid documentaries: Sundance hit The Queen of Versailles and the LCD Soundsystem concert doc Shut Up and Play the Hits. Will The Dark Knight Rises reclaim the opening weekend record from The Avengers? If you see the film, feel free to discuss it below.

Will there be a show uploaded next week? Have fun on your vacation!

  • There will be a podcast recorded at Site B in my absence. The show must go on!

Awesome! Can’t wait to hear it.

To stay on topic, I’m not seeing The Dark Knight Rises, I’m not a fan of the series. But then again, I’m not a fan of comic book movies in general.

.. maybe Reed can join the crew??
It’s been a while.. tell him he can host it!

    …..I wouldn’t like a show without a devil’s advocate.

Hope you have a great holiday.

Reed reviewing The Dark Knight would be awesome, plus since I just re-listened to the drunken Reed podcast could we have a hammered Frank podcast?

Can’t wait for The Dark Knight.

Going to miss you on the show, Sean have a nice trip.

Even though I wasn’t the biggest fan of The Dark Knight I’ll be checking out The Dark Knight Rises in juuust about 8½ hours from now. Can’t help but be a little bit excited and I hope Batman ends up dead like everything is pointing towards – would be an epic conclusion and would certainly result in major trilogy cred points.

    Have a great holiday Sean!

Oh well filmjunk was the one thing I look forward during work!!! LOL! I guess I will have to concentrate on work!

I saw the movie and enjoyed it. It is certainly entertaining, and the ending is excellent. A perfect close to the trilogy.

The film has flaws though. I think Bane has an awesome look and voice, but there were things about his character that I found disappointing and underwhelming. Quite simply, I don’t think they developed an interesting or unique motivation for his character like they did with the Joker. He ends up being more of a pawn, and quite frankly the way he exits the film is very disappointing.

Sad day for movie fans…but if you wanna give that prick the middle finger, go out to the movies this weekend.
