Movie Poster Round-Up: Man of Steel, Godzilla, Pacific Rim

Most of the movies that have a presence at the San Diego Comic-Con every year tend to release some sort of new poster, many of them special prints made exclusively for the event. So I felt it was necessary to put together a special Comic-Con Edition of the Movie Poster Round-Up to take a look at some of the artwork issued for these movies plus a handful of Mondo’s super nifty limited edition prints as well. The cream of the Comic-Con crop includes the very first teaser posters for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel and Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim (the latter of which shows just how giant those giant robots are going to be).

But that’s not all. We’ve also got a sweet retro-inspired poster for The Expendables 2, a cool Man from U.N.C.L.E.-esque poster for The Bourne Legacy, and a teaser poster for Edgar Wright’s The World’s End. As for those Mondo posters, they put out a handful of stylish takes on The Dark Knight Rises, a striking piece for Pixar’s Brave, and a bunch of oddly sized The Lord of the Rings one-sheets, along with some pieces for Game of Thrones and Princess Mononoke as well. Which ones are your favourites? Check out the full gallery after the jump and sound off in the comments below.

Where does he get those wonderful posters?

I really like the texture of Superman’s new outfit. I think it looks cool. And I love those DKR posters by Jock, he was one of my favorite comic book cover artists. The Expendables poster seems so busy, too much going on.

I liked The Hobbit, but was hoping for a little something more from the Godzilla poster. There has just been so little information out there about it.

I desperately cling to hopes that it won’t suck. Giant monster films are under-represented in the modern age in my eyes.

The Olly Moss Dark Knight Rises poster (the one smack in the middle) is on sale today until midnight, a 16×24 print for $40. It’s edition is TBD so it’s easy to get one, just order today. A lot of these posters are great, but I love the Expendables 2 poster. It really represents what the film is: badasses, guns, explosions.
