Bryan Singer’s H+ Trailer

Over the past few years we’ve been seeing people take the web more and more seriously as a storytelling medium. Although we’ve only seen a few minor breakout hits so far (Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, for instance), big name actors and directors are starting to get involved and studios are now putting substantial money into online projects not just as a way to cross promote other properties, but as standalone entertainment in and of itself. This week the first trailer for Bryan Singer’s H+ has hit the web, and it looks like it could be one of the most ambitious internet-only projects we’ve seen to date.
The story takes place in the not-too-distant future, where a high-tech device called Hplus Nano Teoranta allows humans to essentially connect their brains directly to the internet. But when a virus attacks the network, it wreaks havoc on the world’s population leading to a global catastrophe. Bryan Singer is producing the series and it appears that Stewart Hendler (Sorority Row) is actually directing the majority of it, but the production values look pretty much on par with a network TV show. I’ll definitely give this a chance when it premieres on August 8th; new episodes are expected to be released every Wednesday after that. Check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
