James Nguyen’s Birdemic: Shock and Terror is one of those “so bad it’s good” movies that has built up a reputation over the past couple of years through screenings and word of mouth. Praised for its inept direction, atrocious special effects and terrible acting, the movie was Nguyen’s attempt to pay tribute to Hitchcock’s The Birds. The resulting film has been mentioned in the same breath as such cult classics as Troll 2 and The Room, and Tim and Eric even took a liking to it and helped promote it as well. Two years later, a sequel is imminent… but does it matter that James Nguyen is now in on the joke?

Birdemic II: The Resurrection finds many of the same cast members returning to deal with another eagle and vulture attack… this time in Hollywood, California. The first teaser trailer has premiered online over at Yahoo! of all places, and at first glance, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. But wait… it’s parodying the post-credits scene from The Avengers! Brilliant? The weird thing is that the sequel was going to be released in 3D, but a voiceover says that they couldn’t afford it. Total scam! Birdemic II: The Resurrection will supposedly be out sometime this summer; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
