Resident Evil: Retribution Trailer #2

After the strange teaser trailer that was released back in January that played out like a real commercial for Sony products, a full theatrical trailer for Resident Evil: Retribution has now hit the web. This one, too, has a red herring intro, but it is a lot more effective than the teaser in my opinion. It also apparently introduces a new wrinkle to the Resident Evil series: implanted memories. So now Paul W.S. Anderson isn’t just ripping off The Matrix, he’s also stealing from Inception and Total Recall?

It’s unclear from the trailer exactly how this idea fits into the film’s plot, but it does look like this installment will have some of the biggest action sequences to date. There are plenty of explosions, gunfights and at least one massive creature that resembles something out of the video games. At this point it seems like Paul W.S. Anderson is prepared to put out a new Resident Evil movie every other year as long as they keep on making money. Will you be plunking down your hard-earned cash to watch this one? Resident Evil: Retribution hits theatres on September 14th; check out the new trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

Its really weird how the movies have diverged so radically from the setting and story of the games, but they keep throwing in characters that are dressed exactly as they are in the game. Like they feel they have to at least throw some sort of bone to the games fans.

I always wait for DVD with these movies. They usually aren’t great, but I am always curious to see what happens in them.

Disable brain. Enjoy the shiny. I’ve grown to enjoy this series. By now, you know exactly what you are in for. And I appreciated the amount of effort they put into it.
