Ellen Page to Star in Beyond: Two Souls: A New Game from the Makers of Heavy Rain

Even if you’re not a gamer, you’re probably aware that E3 is going on this week in L.A., and that it is by far the biggest annual video game-related press event. New game announcements and trailers are coming fast and furious, many of which will definitely be of interest to movie fans. Right now there’s one in particular I wanted to bring to your attention that was unveiled last night at Sony’s press conference. Quantic Dream, the makers of Heavy Rain, announced their new game Beyond: Two Souls for the Playstation 3 featuring Ellen Page in the lead role.
The story involves a girl with psychic powers, and to be honest, it doesn’t look like anything we haven’t seen before. What makes this a significant announcement is the fact that for the first time ever, an A-list actor will be lending her likeness to the main character in a video game, and actually acting in it — not just using her voice. Quantic Dream has been building some very impressive performance capture technology, and this looks like the next step in what L.A. Noire accomplished last year. Check out the first look trailer for Beyond: Two Souls after the jump, and stay tuned to the Game Junk Facebook page and Twitter account for more updates throughout the week.
