Between the trailers, posters and other officially released materials, there has been a lot of debate over whether or not Warner Brothers might be dropping the ball on the marketing of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. I think the point is probably moot because this is clearly a movie that doesn’t need any marketing help, but these newly released character posters for the film are probably not going to help their cause either. They are simple, straightforward and get the job done, but they certainly don’t make me any more excited to see the movie.

There are two sets of one-sheets, each one highlighting Batman, Catwoman and Bane while telling us absolutely nothing else. It’s possible that the WB is deliberately downplaying everything and keeping their cards close to their chest, and it could actually be a smart move. I guess we shall see. On the bright side, The Tumbler is currently touring across North America! Check out the new posters after the jump and let us know what you think.
