The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer #3

There is one more new comic book movie trailer that will be attached to The Avengers this weekend, and that is the final trailer for Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man. I feel like this movie has been going under the radar a little bit up until now and has the potential to surprise us, but so far the marketing has not really done anything to make it stand out. Going up against The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises is not an enviable task, and it certainly doesn’t help that this has a much lower budget than both of those films.

Unfortunately, if this new trailer is their last chance to impress us, I don’t think it really succeeds. For me, The Lizard is not coming across as a must-see villain and there don’t seem to be many memorable action set pieces either. If they are going to win us over, I think it’s going to have to be with the writing and performances, and fortunately the one thing that they seem to have improved over Sam Raimi’s films is Spider-Man’s sarcastic banter. What do you think, are you sold on this movie yet? The Amazing Spider-Man hits theatres on July 3rd; check out the trailer after the jump.

Very disheartened… It’s like the more trailers I see, the more I realize that it’s possible for the movie to actually be bad, even though it’s a Spider-Man movie.

  • Still not impressive enough… not compelling either to warrant a reboot so soon.

  • ok, its on my radar for the most obscure reason – interesting architecture

Look’s amazing to me. Exactly what a spiderman movie ought to be.

I saw the new trailer last night before seeing “THE AVENGERS” :) , which was awesome, by the way, and I thought that the new Spider-Man trailer was actually pretty cool. If nothing else, this trailer differentiates this movie further from the Tobey Macquire films. I at least feel that I would have a reason for wanting to see this, like it might add something to the mythology AND actually entertain me.

I think that the action scenes from what I saw in the trailer APPEAR to be above or at least on par with what I saw in the previous Spider-Man films, and I do like the smart ass attitude that Peter seems to be working with.

The theater was packed for “The Avengers” and the audience was clapping and whooping all night, with joy, so I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is having doubts about whether or not to go see it.

It is definitely the best superhero film that I have ever seen.

Looks like they’re trying to leave the emo look behind… although not sure what the few seconds of skateboarding was all about

I actually thought this looked pretty good. The swinging seems pretty good and much better than the Rami Spidey…but swinging don’t make a movie. I ‘ll still see considering the last Spidey left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Yeah the witty banter was an improvement, but I am going to miss the perfectly cast J.K. Simmons.

  • Anthony

I liked the trailer quite a bit actually.

  • Captain N

This trailer instantly looks better than anything Raimi directed Spiderman wise.

You guys fucking kidding me? It looks terrible (story, setting, acting, visuals, etc.)! And his accent! It’s so obvious he is a Brit that can’t imitate the voice of an American.

  • I saw this with at the midnight showing of the Avengers. People went wild for the Dark Knight Rises and Prometheus trailers, but there was a bit of a pause after this one before people started applauding. Like a “that’s it..?” kind of pause.

  • Also, needs more day time shots. It’s trying to be the Dark Knight.

I can see how people are being pessimistic because its a reboot. But I honestly think it looks way better than Raimi’s Spider-Man (based on this trailer). It has a good director at helm and the whole cast is made up of good actors! I personally am very excited for this one.

Do the 3D parts really need the overdramatic sound effects attached to them?
