Klown Red Band Trailer

A couple of weeks ago it was announced that Danny McBride was going to write and star in a remake of a Danish comedy called Klown (Clown). The original film had been getting comparisons to The Hangover while supposedly pushing the envelope much further. As it turns out, Drafthouse Films will be bringing the original Klown to U.S. theatres and they have just released the first domestic red band trailer, which is really more of an extended clip (and absolutely NSFW, by the way).

The story revolves around Frank and his buddy Casper, who embark on a wild and crazy weekend canoeing trip with the intention of getting laid as much as possible. The twist is that Frank has decided to bring the 12-year-old nephew of his pregnant girlfriend along for the ride in order to prove that he can be a good father. Clearly you can see potential for disaster here. Drafthouse previously brought the British comedy Four Lions to North America, which also addressed some pretty taboo subject matter, so I trust that this will also be something worth seeing. Klown hits select theatres and VOD on July 27th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Come on Sean, you can clearly see on the picture it’s Klovn with a single v. Tsk tsk.

  • Kasper

Or is it what it’s being called for North American release? I’m confused (due to the Youtube embed being called Klown as well)

  • I was confused about this as well. In the press release, they refer to it as Klown, so that is what I went with.

  • Kasper

Yeah, watching the clip it’s Klown.

Anyway, I’m not sure how well the comedy translates through the subtitles, as the humor is as much a product of the actual delivery of things (like the pancakes comment, it’s delivery is hilarious).

Everything about this trailer made me laugh. The “everybody likes getting their assholes fingered” took the cake.

This movie is quite amazing in the theatre, I think this clip does a good job establishing why…

Maybe americans would pronounce “Klovn” as “Kloven”, so they had to change it? Reminds me of the whole Coven-debacle from American Movie :D
