First Two Official Photos from Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained

As we all anxiously await the first teaser trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film Django Unchained, this week we finally have our first look at the movie in the form of two official stills. One shows Jamie Foxx in the lead role as Django, walking with Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz), a German bounty hunter willing to help him free his wife (Kerry Washington) from the plantation. The other depicts Leonardo DiCaprio in the villainous role as Calvin Candie, a sadistic plantation owner who forces some of his slaves to fight to the death like gladiators.
According to Foxx: “There’s a beautiful way [Tarantino] found for the characters to talk to each other. It’s mindblowing. You’ve never heard it this way… You’ve seen movies deal with slavery — or westerns that never dealt with slavery – do it the safe way. This way is like … wow.” He expects it to be controversial, but I think what we all want to know is, can it possibly top Inglourious Basterds? Django Unchained hits theatres on December 25th; check out the images along with the first poster for the film after the jump.
