The Baytown Disco Trailer Starring Billy Bob Thornton

Here’s the first promo trailer for an indie movie called The Baytown Disco, a comedic action flick about three Alabama brothers who end up on the run after trying to do a good deed. Brick, McQueen and Lincoln Oodie are known for operating on the wrong side of the law, but after a damsel in distress (Eva Longoria) requests their services, they decide to help rescue her son from her crooked ex-husband (Billy Bob Thornton). Unfortunately for them, the whole thing quickly goes to hell.

Before you get too critical of the trailer itself, keep in mind that this is just a sales trailer trying to land distribution. If you ask me, the concept seems pretty outlandish and fun, and it even has a hint of The Coen Brothers’ humour in there. First-time director Barry Battles co-wrote the script with Griffin Hood and it landed on the 2009 Black List. While that doesn’t always mean anything, I think it’s worth noting that Michael Rapaport and Zoe Bell are also listed among the cast. What do you think, will this be a “Southern whip-ass extravaganza”? Check out the trailer after the jump and sound off in the comments below.

This looks awesome. Looked at slashfilm where everybody was hating on this and it just made me more sure that this was potentially a fun flick to look out for.

Right on Kasper my man, right on! Looks way killer. How much fun will this be at a drive in theater, with a cold beer and snacks. I just wish a certain Nic Cage was in this flick.

Action comedies tend to be an easy type of film to sell, but a hard type to execute. The two genres often get their wires crossed and what ends up being produced is an unfunny comedy and an action movie with very poor action. It is a great idea, just one that is difficult to pull off. Oddly enough, Michael Bay was able to direct an excellent action comedy.

This film correctly created the delicate balance of action and comedy. Hopefully this film will be somewhere in this range.

Scott: Bad Boys 2? The first is – imo – clearly the better of the two. In the second it focused too much on how cool and awesome Will Smith is.

  • Mike

Looks like a Robert Rodriguez movie with more white people

  • Anthony

    I’d see this.
