Ryan Gosling Becomes a “Real Hero” After Saving Woman from Being Hit by Car

A real human being… and a real hero. That’s just who Ryan Gosling is. The Hollywood star always seems to be patrolling New York City looking for someone in need of help, and last week he came to the rescue of a U.K. journalist after she almost stepped out into oncoming traffic on 6th Avenue. Laurie Penny, a writer for The Independent and The Guardian, tweeted to her followers last Tuesday that she “literally, LITERALLY just got saved from a car by Ryan Gosling. Literally. That actually just happened.” It turns out that she was looking the wrong way, as many U.K. visitors do, and almost stepped out in front of a cab before Ryan Gosling pulled her back. What a guy.
It isn’t the first time Gosling has been credited with a heroic act. Last summer, a YouTube video went viral that showed Gosling breaking up a street fight after someone tried to steal an artist’s painting. Perhaps he is a lot more like the main character in the movie Drive than we originally thought.
Laurie Penny, after being inundated with interview requests from the media, decided to write about the incident over on Gawker. And although she admits that she is grateful and “a little bit swoony”, she doesn’t think it is really newsworthy “that A-list celebrities occasionally act like human beings.” I beg to differ. Especially when it is a slow news week. Either way, with Werner Herzog covering the West Coast and Ryan Gosling on the East, I think American criminals had best be watching their back.
