Movie Poster Round-Up: Looper, Moonrise Kingdom, The Wolverine

Time to catch up on some new movie posters this week, and although there aren’t a ton of big blockbusters in this particular collection, there are definitely some cool designs to drool over. Some of the more noteworthy one sheets include Rian Johnson’s Looper, David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, and William Friedkin’s Killer Joe (the latter of which makes a lot more sense once you’ve seen the film). We’ve also got the first official poster for Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom and the horror anthology The ABCs of Death.

In terms of big summer movies, we’ve got a few new posters for The Avengers, a group poster for Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, and a new piece for The Amazing Spider-Man that puts The Lizard front and centre. We’ve also got an early promo poster for The Wolverine and, as usual, some great Mondo designs for The Cabin in the Woods, The Exorcist and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Which of these posters stand out to you? Check out the full gallery after the jump.

Given recent events in the US, the Neighborhood Watch poster is a bit darker now than intended.

  • Yeah, they also had to pull the teaser trailer for a while. Not sure if they will have to change the marketing or even the title before it hits theatres.

Lol, the spider-man poster looks like dick. I’m pretty enticed by everything else though. Especially ABCs of Death and Cabin in the Woods.

  • Jing

What’s up with the exorcist poster? Remake or some kind of re-release? Agreed, the spider man poster looks like shit. Big fan of the Star Trek, Wolverine and Cabin in the woods posters though! The John Carter one looks nice too.

  • Darksiders

    The Wolverine looks pretty badass.

  • Henrik

Why do we get our first real look at The Lizard in a shitty poster? Might as well have shown him in the trailer, if you’re not going to keep him a secret… *sigh* Looks like fucking garbage if you ask me, like a CGI greenman.

    Superhero movie posters always suck.

  • Matt

    @jing – it’s a mondo poster if I’m not mistaken.

  • curtis talls

that Cabin in the Woods poster looks fantastic

If I saw that Avengers poster when I was 10, I would have gone insane with joy. Then, when I came to my senses, I would have said,”Why aren’t they wearing their masks!??”
Seriously, I wish they could sell the characters instead of the actors.

The plot in Neighborhood Watch is actually the guys tackling aliens so the poster is apt.
The Junkie poster, is it the film by Adam Mason?

  • I believe so. Don’t really know anything about the movie, just thought the poster was cool.
