Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd to Reteam for New Comedy Project

When Dan Aykroyd was interviewed by The Telegraph a few weeks ago, he admitted that Ghostbusters 3 was probably not likely to happen anytime soon. Despite his disappointment, he also revealed that he doesn’t really want to work in film anymore, and that he is only interested in teaming up with “triple-A superstars” from here on in. That being said, it does seem that he is willing to make exceptions for old friends, as this week he has announced on Facebook that he and Chevy Chase are going to be collaborating on a new comedy. This is what he had to say about the as-of-yet untitled project:
“Chevy (Chase) and I are about to start work on a script concept for a comedy movie. Cannot say too much about the concept, but the joy of working with him again is one that I am extremely excited about. Chevy is one of my favourite people, and one of the great anarchistic and physically committed comedians in the business.”
Without any other information it’s difficult to say whether or not this will be something worth looking forward to, but I am definitely intrigued. Chevy Chase’s career has recently been revived thanks to Community, while Aykroyd has kept busy with smaller roles in movies like War, Inc. and I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry (not to mention providing the voice of Yogi Bear). The last movie they worked together on was the disastrous Nothing But Trouble, which Aykroyd also directed. There is probably only one person out there who is hoping for a Nothing But Trouble sequel, but what do you think about this project? Could Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase still have some funny stuff left in them?
