Richard Linklater’s Bernie Trailer Starring Jack Black

And… another new trailer! Richard Linklater’s last film Me and Orson Welles came and went without much in the way of fanfare, but for his newest film he is reteaming with Jack Black for the first time since their hit comedy School of Rock. While this is also a comedic film based on a true story, it looks to be quite a bit darker than School of Rock.

Jack Black plays the titular character, a funeral director in a small town in Texas who befriends a rich widow (Shirley MacLaine). When the widow eventually goes missing, no one suspects that the friendly and outgoing Bernie could possibly be responsible… no one, that is, except for district attorney Danny Buck Davidson (Matthew McConaughey). The trailer looks somewhat low key, but based on the premise and title, I’m just hoping this plays like a remake of Weekend at Bernie’s. Bernie hits select theatres on April 27th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

  • I’m not sure if this one will be any good. I hope so.

Awful, awful trailer. Film actually looks pretty good though, and I love Shirley MacLaine.

I used to get pretty excited about Linklater films/projects. Now that feeling is all but gone :(

    Blimey.
