Sacha Baron Cohen Responds to Oscar Ban… as The Dictator

As we reported a couple of days ago, Sacha Baron Cohen was had let slip the fact that he was planning to attend the Oscars in character as Admiral General Aladeen from his upcoming film The Dictator. Unfortunately, the Academy was not a big fan of this idea and they revoked his tickets for the event, essentially banning him from the Oscars. They would not permit him to attend unless he could guarantee that he would not pull off any publicity stunts for the movie. Party poopers.
Today, Sacha Baron Cohen has responded to the Oscar ban in character as Admiral General Aladeen. It’s basically Sacha Baron Cohen doing what he does best, talking with an accent and pretending to mix up American culture, and if you ask me, it’s slightly more amusing than the actual trailer for the film. It’s still not laugh out loud hilarious, but it does make me wish that this movie wasn’t a more traditional scripted comedy. What isn’t made clear, however, is whether Sacha Baron Cohen will actually make nice with the Academy and attend the awards as himself. The Dictator hits theatres on May 11th; check out the video after the jump.
