I dunno… I didn’t think they needed to be rebooted in the first place – I actually liked Toby as Peter. I doubt I’ll see this in theaters. Just a pain in the ass to relearn who all the actors/actresses are supposed to be and how their stories have changed. Way too soon or this.

I agree about Denis Leary looking like the best part of the movie though.

I think its a badly made trailer. It jumps all over the place which struck to me as being kinda odd. But I’m all for the movie… Garfield nailed the Peter Parker look… plus Marc Webb has already said that he will be more of a “wisecracker” which I’m all in for!

I think Sin City was probably an even better match but I agree that they got it right on Spider-Man.

Spider-Man 2 is still the best comic book movie in my opinion and it’ll be difficult for this one to match. I’m glad they’re doing the Gwen story instead of Mary-Jane.. At least something different from the previous movies.

I like that Spider-man seems to have more humor then in the previous films. That is Spidey. Will it hit Spider-man 2 levels? Maybe. Not sure about that though. But hopefully it’s a fun film at least.

I like it but I’m not entirely sold this is going to be anywhere near the level of Spiderman 2.

I think the Raimi trilogy was the most tonally matched a comic book adaptation has ever gotten to it’s source material. This looks more like the generic product I thought would happen before Raimi blew me away. However, unlike the teaser, this looks watchable.

I do think the trailer looks very interesting, but, yeah, it feels VERY familiar. I don’t know, I think a ton of people, including myself, will go see this, regardless, but it’s going to be difficult for them to really make it feel new and interesting.

I’m not really even sure if I should go see this at the theater like I did with 2 or 3 of the previous Spider-Man movies. There’s going to be a definite feeling of deja-vu, like I’ve seen the movie before or something.

If for some reason the movie doesn’t do well, maybe it will inspire Marvel to pull some of its other properties off the shelf and make an attempt at something truly new, that hasn’t been seen before.

If it does really well, that’ll open the floodgates for even more reboots and prequels then we have already been getting….oh boy.

Even though different studios are releasing each film, Marvel is of course still involved, so is it possible that maybe they held off on the Spider-Man trailer so as not to steal the thunder from the Avengers spot, which comes out earlier anyway?

Here’s what I don’t get about the look of the Lizard. It seems like their going for a more “realistic” take on the him so he looks more humanoid. Yet, he has a giant fucking tail. So apparently he can have a huge tail but having a lizard snout is too unrealistic? Ok.

Yeah. I think Sean nailed it on the head. We have seen this story before. Minus a few specifics (mechanical web slingers). I mean it even has a scene in high school with him kicking a bully’s ass. We really didn’t need to see the origin story *again*. It simply hasn’t been that long!

I mean I guess an origin story would appeal to young kids who don’t know the 2001 version, but this looks like it’s going all Batman Begins on us with the darker feel, so that probably will not work as an excuse.

In short, I’m dubious. It will make plenty of money though, I’m sure. Blah.
