Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Trailer #2

Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance had its first public screening at Butt-Numb-a-Thon 13 last weekend, and while you’d think such a crowd would have been ready to unconditionally love this flick, the early reactions have been surprisingly negative. Many people seem to feel that it is actually on par with, if not worse than, the original Ghost Rider flick. How is that even possible? So, in an effort to combat some of the bad buzz, Sony has released the full theatrical trailer for the film online this week.

Although I haven’t loved any of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor’s previous films, this project seems like a perfect fit for them, and after watching the trailer I still have a hard time believing that people were so unimpressed by it. It clearly isn’t taking itself very seriously, and the action seems pretty insane. Plus it’s got Nic Cage saying stuff like this with a straight face: “That being the case, we better make sure he doesn’t turn out to be the Antichrist.” I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but as of right now I’m still very interested. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance opens on February 17th, 2012; check out the new trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Well, while a lot of reviewers has been unimpressed, I’ve also read responses from Twitter that were positive, saying it was a stupid but entertaining movie. I’m guessing it’s the kind of flick that would never appeal to the usually slightly hoity toity reviewers.

Personally I loved the first Crank and were also entertained by Crank 2, even though it wasn’t as good as the first. Gamer was also okay, though it has been their worst movie so far. It did have some sweet action scenes.

Why would anyone assume that people watchig at BNAT would be more positive about the film??? Movie “fans” are fickle, pretentious, whiny pricks.

I will go in to this expecting mindless over the top fun. What else could I expect really?

I think it’s just Nick Cage. Critics have been mindlessly bashing everything he does for a while now. I think it’s because he stopped doing serious dramatic films and went to action films.
