What to Expect When You’re Expecting Trailer

With so many of the major blockbusters targeted at men every year, more and more studios are trying to find creative ways to get women out to the multiplex as well. The success of properties like Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada has shown that movies based on bestselling womens’ books can sell, and now Lionsgate is taking it a step further by adapting the ultimate female tome: What to Expect When You’re Expecting. Never mind the fact that it’s a non-fiction book about pregnancy… just recruit a star-studded cast and the rest will work itself out!

The first trailer for What to Expect When You’re Expecting has arrived online this week, and as you might “expect”, it looks pretty god awful. There are way too many characters and storylines, not to mention too much broad humour. (Get it? Broad humour!) The cast includes Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Anna Kendrick, Elizabeth Banks, Brooklyn Decker, Chace Crawford and Dennis Quaid. Oh, and Chris Rock… what is he doing in this? What to Expect When You’re Expecting hits theatres on May 11, 2012; check out the baby bumps after the jump.

sean, looks like you could learn a lot about baby care from this

Really reminds me of an anecdote out of Charles Grodin’s autobiography when he had to write a screenplay based on the book “The Joy of Sex.” The studio bought the rights to the book just because it was hugely popular and they had the writers figure out how to turn it into a movie.
