New to Theatres This Weekend: Shame, Sleeping Beauty, Outrage

It’s the calm before the holiday storm this weekend and it’s strangely quiet at the multiplex with no new movies in wide release and only a handful of new titles playing in select theatres. Perhaps the most significant release is Steve McQueen’s sex addiction drama Shame, which is building up a lot of Oscar buzz for Michael Fassbender’s performance in particular. Also playing this weekend we have Takeshi Kitano’s Outrage, Julia Leigh’s Sleeping Beauty (not your usual retelling of a fairy tale) and Ralph Fiennes’ Coriolanus. Mostly though it seems like a weekend to catch up on something you might have missed, such as Moneyball which also happens to be returning to theatres starting today.
