Safe House Trailer Starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds

We’ve got even more spy games on the horizon this week as the very first trailer for Safe House has hit the web courtesy of Apple. This is a project that has been getting a lot of buzz around Hollywood ever since it placed near the top of the 2010 Black List for best unproduced screenplays. Of course, lately it seems like Black List films have been somewhat hit and miss, but the casting of Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds gives this one hope beyond just the script from David Guggenheim (Medallion).
Denzel plays Tobin Frost, a dangerous former C.I.A. agent gone rogue. After a decade spent off the grid, he is suddenly captured and brought to a C.I.A. safe house in Cape Town, South Africa. Rookie operative Matt Weston (Reynolds) is assigned to keep an eye on him, but when a team of mercenaries attack the base, the two find themselves on the run and unsure who to trust. Directed by Swedish filmmaker Daniel Espinosa (Easy Money), the movie looks to have some decent action… I just hope Ryan Reynolds doesn’t play it too broad as the clueless newbie. Safe House hits theatres on February 10th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
